Health, Safety, and Environmental Benefits
Compared to conventional sand moulding systems, the Replicast® process offers considerable advantages in reduced risks of worker exposure to hazardous substances. The plant required for control of dust is smaller than that employed in a comparable sand foundry. The reduction in fettling, particularly de-flashing and defect repair, brings about a much needed reduction in exposure to foundry dust and hand-arm vibration.
Casting of Replicast® moulds is undoubtedly one of the cleaner casting processes around. Waste streams are massively reduced as well as emissions to the atmosphere. The ceramic shell itself is inert and the only fumes are from the metal, which is an inherent part of any casting operation. There are no organic emissions of any type associated with the mould.
