Materials Selection

It is essential that a number of criteria are considered when selecting materials for cast components.  These criteria include:

• the castability of the alloy;
• the properties required from the finished component;
• the service and environment that the component will experience;
• any post-casting processing of the component (machining, fabrication, heat treatment).
