Lost Foam Casting
Lost foam casting are poured in a similar manner to sand castings, in that molten metal is poured from a vessel or ladle into a pouring basin which leads to the running system and mould cavity. However, the filling of the mould is controlled by the vapourisation of the foam pattern. It is vital for a positive head of metal to be maintained, otherwise the mould may collapse leading to the castings having to be scrapped. |
