Casting Design & Improving Quality Standards

This one-day course provides individuals with knowledge of casting design. It covers basic principles, the building blocks to good casting design, illustrated with real life case studies and provides hints and tips regarding common pitfalls and how to avoid them.
It then focuses on improving quality by analysing current practices and provides guidance in the quality standards. The final session shows how to improve product quality by recognising casting defects..

By the end of this full day, you are very much aware that your casting problems may not be foundry related and a close working relationship and good communication with your foundry is essential.

This course is particularly suited for practicing designers, simulation process or methods engineers looking to gain or improve depth of knowledge in producing castable designs. This course can also benefit technical personnel such as sales or quality departments - as some of the controversial issues raised, reflect the way castings are purchased and the suggested improvements of design and current practices have a direct effect on quality.
This is currently Cti's most popular course, and despite covering a serious subject, it is delivered in a professional and fun way, includes practical excersises in Casting Design, active disscussions and a defect recognision quiz.

This is the comments from some of the learner's...

“Structured in a way it was easy to understand with good explanations for each topic, the theory was backed up with real life examples”

“Well presented & informative – did not nod off once!”

“I have assumed that because we had a foundry and had no problems, that the problems our new suppliers have is their fault. I now appreciate that this may not be the case”

“I found the course useful as it showed us how much we didn’t know about casting design”

and when asked, what they liked the most...

“The depth that each section was covered and also learning about the different defects…”

“Relaxed environment, I felt at ease while we were learning. Not like some training courses when you dread what might be coming up next…”

“References to industry, case studies and previous experience”
