Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016
These regulations transpose The Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) Directive 2013/35/EU into UK law and came into force in July 2016. Companies are required to risk assess the exposures of employees, the general public and those at heightened risk to electromagnetic radiation in the workplace. Where risks are identified, in situ measurements are required to be carried out to assess the levels of exposure against given limits. Cast metal producers have many sources of EMF from furnaces, power supplies, welding, arc air and other equipment The regulations also require training for employees and signage indicating areas of potential exposure.
Cti are able to provide guidance, risk assessment and monitoring of EMF to enable member companies to comply with the regulations.
